As associate expert Anne works on value chain development of banana in Uganda and the larger East-African region. She has studied beer-banana use and importance in relation to banana-disease (XW), mapped local value chains for cooking and desert bananas and done market surveys. Anne is currently working on a study about collective marketing of cooking-bananas. Since mid-2012 Anne is the gender focal point for the CGIAR Research Programs on ‘Roots, Tubers and Bananas’ and ‘Humid Tropics’. She contributes to the development of these research programs’ gender strategies and workplans for increased integration of gender into research, and capacity strengthening of staff on gender analysis and designing studies to address specific gender issues (gender strategic research).
